Online Casino Sponsors Tournament for Charity

High profile sponsorship deals and closer relationships with charitable organizations are two areas that the online casino industry has focused on in the last year. While several sponsorship deals have made some online casino firms a household name, others are becoming increasingly aware of the goodwill they receive by supporting local and national charities. Some such as Bet on Sports have even gone so far as to extend financial support to a well known charity that deals with compulsive online casino gambling.
One of the latest online casino operators to sign a deal with a charitable organization is Tiger Gaming. The online casino firm is set to sponsor the Canadian Texas Hold’em Charity Championship, a national and regional Hold’em tournament that began in Montreal and has now grown to include online casino players in Toronto. The tournament begins on May 30, with the hosting of regional tournaments in both Montreal and Toronto. The final ten players will go on to compete in the final table championship in Las Vegas.
Winners in the local tournaments will be awarded prizes and will then be flown to Las Vegas to compete in the final table championship. The grand prize is estimated to be around $15,000, including travel, accommodation and the entry fee to the 2006 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. All proceeds from the tournament will go to support several Canadian hospitals and Street Kids International, an organization that works with homeless Canadian youth.
